Related Sites :

The Weston-super-Mare Family History Society

Family historians in the North Somerset area should find some useful information here. Links to other Web resources are supplied and the site contains addresses of many useful organisations. Published on the web site are the indexes for the cemetery, baptisms, marriages and burial records that have been transcribed by the society. The indexes give the names and a reference number that refer to the full transcript found in the relevant society publication.

The Mendip Society

The site tells you all about the Mendip Hills and the work of the Mendip Society, a voluntary charity with interests in conserving and enhancing the Mendip Hills.

Rooksbridge Village

A very informative and illustrative site on the life of a village close to Loxton. It is full of interest, covering a wide variety of topics including current events and historical facts.

Compton Bishop Families

Margaret Jordan is willing to help with family history research of families who lived in the adjoining parish of Compton Bishop. The parish consists of the villages of Compton Bishop and Cross and includes the hamlets of Webbington, Dunnet and Rackley. Margaret has written a very interesting and informative book on the story of the parish, and her website gives particulars for purchase.

The "Loxton" Family

Ian Loxton's site features Loxton family trees and their history from all over the world.

History of Kemnal Road, Chislehurst, Kent.

Information about the Tiarks' house of Foxbury is included, where some of the Tiarks were raised.

Much Moaning In The Marsh Village

A village web site with a difference! Typifying many of our villages today, albeit perhaps a 'little tongue in cheek', it attempts to portray the characters, the events and goings on in a format, that many villagers will instantly recognise and identify with. Worthy of a visit just for a good light-hearted read.

Somerset Online Parish Clerk Project

An Online Parish Clerk volunteers to transcribe historical records such as Parish Registers and Census Returns, and should not be confused with the civil Parish Clerk appointed by a Parish Council. The data is freely available either on the site or by contacting the OPC for a specific parish.

A Family History Website

Mike Durtnall's site has 'downloadable' transcripts of some of the Somerset parish registers.
