This section provides an account of a few local events and sensational items that were recorded at the time in newspapers. Any other stories and events reported elsewhere or memorabilia kindly supplied by other people is recorded and acknowledged. By comparison with todays events and news items, visitors may find the content of many of the articles somewhat tame if not bizarre but it is hoped that this might help to create an awareness of the simplicity of life at that time. A brief description of the articles is provided in the list below with links to the relevant text.

Golden Jubilee Celebrations	In 1887 the Golden Jubilee of Queen Victoria was celebrated in many towns and villages throughout the country, and the celebrations held in the village are recorded.
Guy Fawkes Festivals	An account from newspaper extracts of the bonfire celebrations held in 1889-91.
"A Busy-body Punished"	A newspaper extract describes an incident that arose at the funeral of Anne Tiarks in 1889.
"Great School Board Fight"	Newspaper extracts, document the events that followed the schoolboard election of 1884, which culminated in a fight and court hearing.
"Story Of Our Village"	An extract from the article written by Mrs C.H.Fearfield during November 1953 for the Women's Institute.
"The Curse Of Loxton"	Fact or fiction ?
The Loxton Murder - 1954	An account of the murder of Miss Friederika Alwine Maria Buls, compiled from reports written in the Weston Mercury newspapers.
