Hi. I really enjoyed your website. My father is Alan Vincent Loxton - born 1927. His father was Samuel James Loxton born about 1894-5. His family was from Albany Western Australia. I think he had about 6 siblings - Claire, Nancy, Dorothy, Amy, Nina, and a brother - can't remember his name. Their mother was Alice Mary Burrows - I think born 1869 and their father - I think was a Stephen Loxton. Alice Burrows ran a boarding house in Albany. Kind Regards Julie

I think your site is well designed, easy to navigate and very interesting. As a Loxton (and I don't know what connection there is between my surname and your village), I found the information fascinating.

My parents were good friends and business associates of the Tiarks boys. We have a pastel portrait of Frank in full dress uniform. Just now we are in the process of winding up the Everett estate and wonder if anyone is interested in this portrait.

I note that this years celebration will be the 400th. The celebration is alive and well here in New Zealand. Several thousand people attend a huge bonfire and fire work display at a village nearby called Wakefield where the local fire brigade run the event.

My Mother was born in Weston-super-Mare in 1936, her name was Pearl Irene Starkes. Her fathers name was Evan Starkes. I've been trying to look up my family tree and have become somewhat stuck on Evan Starkes. Dont know when he was born or where. My grandmothers name was Vera Starkes(nee Hodges)also born in Weston. Does anyone think that the Starkes of my family might be attached in some way to the Stark/Starks of the Loxton area ? Anyway, smashing site you have here. Really interesting and informative

Have been researching the Galton family in Birmingham and Hubert John Barclay Galton of Warley Abbey for a project my daughters class are doing and for the Galton family tree that I am presenting in a talk to the children. Your site has been extremely helpful in piecing together a family tree for the children to see. If anyone knows of a picture of Hubert John Barclay Galton I would love to hear from them to help bring the project more to life for the children to relate to. Many thanks

Found the site very interesting especially having struggled to transcribe the PRs a few years ago for the Stark family. I am descended from William's youngest son Daniel. William was baptised in Loxton 1805, and died in Magor May 1892 a farmer.

William Stark. I have been researching my family history and think I am a descendant of William Stark child of John and Mary. There shows no record of him for Loxton and this is because he moved to Magor in Monmouthshire and his occupation was Agricultural Labourer.

Greetings from across the pond. My great grandfather, Jesse Carey, was born in Loxton in 1832, the son of William Carey and Betsy Thomas. I don't know anything further about Betsy Thomas' ancestors and only know that William's father and grandfather were both named Thomas Carey. I would love to hear from anyone knowing anything more about these people. I hope within the next 10 years or so to visit the Loxton area - it looks beautiful! Thanks for the great website.

My wife and I have visited the village of Loxton. Quaint. The day we picked was the weekly spreading of the fertilizer giving the village a natural country aroma. My grandfather John Loxton came over to Canada and then to Massachusetts, USA from Wales. Living in Wales for thirty years because of the lack of industry in England at the time. Open to hear from others in the family. American born Brit.
