Rev. Lewis Hermann Tiarks (1869-1938) was the third son of John Gerhard and Ann Tiarks. Educated at St. John's College Cambridge, he was Vicar of Thelwall, Cheshire 1914-15, of Brookland, Kent 1920-1923 and of Littlebourne, Kent 1923-1929, becoming Rector of Latchingdon and Snoreham near Chelmsford, Essex from 1929 to 1938. He was the priest in charge at Loxton Church for about four months in 1897. In 1906 he married Edith Margaret Stokes and had one son and two daughters.
Below is a picture of Henry Frederic Tiarks (1832-1911) from 1892. He was the younger brother of the Rev. John Gerhard, and lived at Chislehurst, Kent. He was the patron of Loxton Church, and in 1900 financed the cost of £300 for a new roof for the church. Henry Frederic was a Justice of the Peace, a Governor of the Royal Exchange and a partner in the firm of Merchants Bankers, J. Henry Schröder and Co., New York. He married Agnes Morris, also pictured below, on 11 September 1862. They had three sons and six daughters. The sons were Henry Frederic, Frank Cyril and Herman Alexander. The portrait, below centre, dated 1884 by Jebens is of Agnes Tiarks with her daughters (left to right) Nelly, Agnes and Sophie.
Henry Frederic Tiarks (1870-1893) the eldest son of Henry and Agnes, was a lieutenant in the Fifth Dragoon Guards, and died of a fever at Meerut in India. Frank Cyril Tiarks (1874-1952) was their second son. He was baptised in Loxton Church on 9 August 1874 and married Emmy Maria Franziska Brödermann on 18 November 1899. He had a full and varied life being the High Sheriff of Kent in 1927, one of His Majesty's lieutenants for the City of London, and a Director of the Bank of England from 1912-1945. He was a partner in the firm of Merchants Bankers, J. Henry Schröder and Co., and a Director of the Anglo-Iranian Oil Company from 1917 to 1948. On a darker note, he was reputed to be a member of the British Fascists and had close associations with Oswald Moseley. In Somerset, he was a Director of the Callow Rock Co., Cheddar. On his retirement he was made an Officer of the Order of the British Empire. Frank and Emmy had three sons and two daughters, Henry Frederic, Edward Matthias, Peter Frank, Ramona Maria Clara and Myra Emmy. He died in Loxton on 7 April 1952 and was buried at Loxton on 10 April 1952.
The eldest son of Frank Cyril and Emmy, Henry Frederic Tiarks, was born in 1900, he served as a Midshipman in the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve in World War I, and a Wing Commander in the Royal Air Force in World War II. He too, was a partner in the firm of Merchants Bankers, J. Henry Schröder and Co., from 1926-1957, and had many other business interests especially in the banking world. He married twice, first in 1930 to Lady Millicent Olivia Taylour; they had one son who died when he was one year old. After divorcing Lady Taylour in 1936, Henry Frederic married Ina Florence Bell in October of the same year. Henry Frederic and Ina Florence had a son and daughter. Their son died at six months old. Their daughter is Henrietta Joan Tiarks, who was baptised at Loxton on 28 May 1940, and was a well-known fashion model before she married Henry Robin Ian, Marquis of Tavistock on 20 June 1961. They have three sons, Andrew Ian Henry, Robin Loel Hastings and 'Jamie'.
The second son of Frank and Emmy, Edward Mathias (1904-1929) was killed in a flying accident. Two of their children, Peter Frank and Myra Emmy were twins, born in 1910. Peter Frank married twice and had two daughters and one son. Myra Emmy and their other daughter Ramona Maria Clara both married.
Herman Alexander Tiarks (1875-1955), seen above, the third son of Henry and Agnes, was born at Balham, Surrey on 15 December 1875 and educated at Marlborough. He married Jessie Follet, the daughter of Rev. Francis Follet of Winscombe, Somerset, on 11 September 1901. Jessie died on 26 February 1923. They had no children. Herman Alexander was buried on 23 December 1955 at the church in Winscombe.
